Year of foundation

Tourism Animation Program started its educational activities under the name of the Department of Economics and Administrative Programs in the 2008-2009 academic year. As of the 2010-2011 academic year, the name of the department was changed to the Department of Travel, Tourism and Entertainment Services, Tourism Animation Program, with the decision of YÖK. The program was opened only as formal education. In total (2017) the number of students enrolled is 30; There are 10 instructors in total, who are permanent staff, 13/b-4, who work in our college and give lessons for tuition fees. There are 14 administrative staff in our school who provide joint services to other programs. There are physical areas such as 3 classrooms, laboratory, practice class and gymnasium in our Vocational High School, which is 35 km away from the central campus. In addition, there are social areas such as an indoor sports hall with basketball and volleyball courts, dance and aerobics hall, canteen and cafeteria, library, cafeteria, photocopy and stationery services unit, outdoor recreation areas, camellias and various outdoor seating equipment.

Establishment Purpose

Today, animation activities have created a serious competition area among accommodation facilities. The scope of animation activities and the presence of qualified personnel play an important role in the selection of the facility. The purpose of the Tourism Animation program; is to train qualified, cultured personnel who can represent and promote their country well.

Able to examine every subject related to entertainment and art from various angles; Our aim is to train modern animators who have the basic knowledge and skills on these issues, who can convey the cultural diversity and richness of our country to foreign guests, who have internalized ethical values, who are aware of the realities of the world, and who embrace the importance of lifelong learning.

Education and Training Activities


 


 Tourism animation program is necessary for the animator profession; It is a program that provides education and training to gain professional competencies in communicating with guests, organizing and applying animation activities. The training period of the program is two years. One year of English preparation is given.

 Tourism Animation department; Students who have a good ear for rhythm and music, have the ability to move and dance, have creativity, stage aesthetics, physical and verbal expression, have the ability to act, do not have any physical disabilities, take care of their appearance, and are prone to learning a foreign language should be preferred.

"Animators" graduated from the "Tourism Animation Program" have the authority to work in various touristic facilities, animation agencies and organization companies. Animators can easily find jobs in businesses belonging to the tourism sector.

  After the second semester of the 1st year, our students carry out their education, practice and internship in accordance with their purposes in workplaces approved by the school-industry coordination for 40 working days between the dates determined.

History
The Tourism Animation Program was approved for establishment by the Senate decision dated 31.01.2007 and submitted to the Council of Higher Education. Subsequently, with the Senate decision dated 15.08.2008, it was decided to admit 30 students through additional quotas and commence education with a compulsory preparatory class starting from the 2008-2009 academic year.

The program was initially established under the Department of Economics and Administrative Programs, where a one-year compulsory preparatory education was provided. However, with the Council of Higher Education’s letter dated 16.09.2009 (No: B.30.0.EÖB.0.00.00.03.08.05-4583-29947), the requirement for passing the preparatory class was abolished.

As of the 2010-2011 academic year, the department’s name was changed to "Travel, Tourism, and Entertainment Services" by the decision of the Council of Higher Education, and the Tourism Animation Program has since continued its activities under this department.

With the Council of Higher Education’s letter dated 27.01.2015 (No: 75850160-105-01.01.07/4270), the compulsory preparatory class was removed, and it was decided that optional preparatory education would be conducted at the Foreign Languages School on the University’s Çiftlikköy Campus starting from 2019. The program graduated its first students in 2010.

The Tourism Animation Program under the Travel, Tourism, and Entertainment Services Department continues its associate degree education with an optional preparatory program and a quota of 40 students.
Qualification Awarded
An associate degree is given in the field of Tourism Animation.
Admission Requirements
Students are accepted based on the YKS exam held by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) and the TYT score type.
Higher Grade Transition
Graduate students who successfully complete their associate degree education have the opportunity to make vertical transfer to relevant departments that provide undergraduate education with the DGS exam.
Graduation Requirements
Students who successfully complete all courses for a total of 123 ECTS in the program and obtain a GPA of at least 60 out of 100 are entitled to graduate by completing their 40 working days internship.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates work in tourism enterprises with the title of "Animator". Animators can find jobs in businesses belonging to the tourism sector, entertainment industry, animation organization companies.
Assessment and Grading
Midterm and final exams are held for each course. The contribution of the midterm exam to the success grade is 40%, and the contribution of the final exam is 60%. All exams are evaluated out of 100 points. Students who receive one of the letter grades AA, BA, BB, CB or CC from a course are considered to have succeeded that course. In addition, students with a semester grade point average of at least 60 are considered successful in the courses in which they received a DC letter grade.
