The programme was founded in 1997 under the name of Banking Programme and its name was changed into Banking and Insurance Programme in 2009-2010 Academic Year.
Students who complete the programme successfully are given Associate’s Degree of Banking and Insurance.
Graduates of secondary education programmes who obtain the required grade from National University Entrance and Placement Exam are accepted to the programme.
The students who study at Mersin University may be exempt from some courses according to certain regulations. They may be exempt from the courses if the application is in time and the content is approved by the administrative board of the related vocational school/faculty/institute.
Students who have passed all of the courses in the curriculum that are 120 AKTS and have achieved a cumulative gross point average of at least 60 out of 100 and have completed the compulsory practical placement period of 40 days will graduate from the programme.
The programme aims to train qualified intermediate staff who have basic information in Banking and Insurance theoritically and practically.The programme involves the subjects of Economics, Statistics, Finance, Management, Law, Mathematics, besides the compulsary subjects of Banking and Insurance which need expertness.
Graduates may have the opportunity of working in the head office and branches of banking and insurance firms and financial instutitions as Leasing,Factoring and Forfaiting.
Graduates can continue their education in Business Administration ,Banking and Econometrics as long as they obtain the required grade from DGS(Exam for Admittance to Bachelor’s Degree Programs). Also they can continue Open Education Faculty at Bachelor’s Degree of any programme without an examination.
There are four lecturers at the programme There are two computer laboratories consisted of 40 computers with an internet access. Also the programme has printer, scanner and projector.
