COOKERY/CULINARY



Mersin University, Anamur Vocational Graduate School was established with Business Administration and Tourism and Hotel Management Programs in 1995-1996 Academic year. Culinary program was established in 2018-2019 academic year. Education and training activities were started in the 2018-2019 academic year.The program has had one year preparation English language class since it was founded. Education duration is 3 years including preparation English language class. Gastronomy is a rising value in our country. Institutions operating to meet food and drink demands require qualified staff.The Culinary program aims to train manpower that is equipped with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed by the food and beverage sector, capable of competing in the national and international arena and providing the highest quality services to the food and beverage sector in hotels, restaurants, food factories, fast-food, patisseries etc.. The Culinary program aims to research and protect rich Turkish culinary culture in an academic environment. In the program, besides the compulsory courses related to culinary and gastronomy, there are a wide variety of elective courses. Our graduates can work as a cook in private sector establishments such as catering companies, corporate kitchens, hotel businesses, restaurants, cafes and pastry shops; they can can find jobs on ships and airpalnes as a VIP cook. In case of passing the civil servant examination, they can work in state facilities.

History

Qualification Awarded
The graduates get the degree of Culinary program with the authority provided by law.
Admission Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma or an equivalent school diploma and get enough points in the relevant field of the central examination administered by ÖSYM
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates, who successfully complete their associate degree education, can continue their education in the relevant undergraduate program if they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam.
Graduation Requirements
It is required to successfully complete all of the courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 120 ECTS), to achieve a general academic achievement grade of at least 60 out of 100 and to complete 40 working days of internship.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
