The department was established in 1992 and actively started education in 1996. B.S. candidates in Psychology must follow a five  year program including one year English Preparation class.  The language of  psychology education is 30%  English and 70 %  Turkish. The department consists of four main areas: Experimental, Clinical, Social and Developmental Psychology.

Goals of the undergraduate program are:
1. To train graduates who can work in the field of psychology using modern knowledge and methods.
2. To train graduates who can design and conduct research projects in the field of psychology, and who can statistically analyze and report their data.
3. To train professionals with high employability in the public or private sector thanks to their theoretical knowledge and professional skills.
4. To produce graduates who can communicate effectively in interdisciplinary and international environments and take responsibility in projects.
5. To train psychologists who are committed to professional ethical principles, sensitive to individual and societal problems, health and safety.
6. To train graduates who possess a lifelong learning awareness, follow scientific developments and global social and health problems, and can produce innovative and sustainable solutions.

Psychology Bachelor's Degree Program with 30% of the content delivered in English.

The students who succeed in finishing the program are awarded with a bachelor’s diploma of Psychology.

Candidates should have a high school or equivalent diploma and get an adequate score from University Entrance Examination conducted by National Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).

The students who study at Mersin University may be exempt from some courses according to certain regulations. They may be exempt from the courses if the application is in time and the content is approved by the administrative board of the related vocational school/faculty/institute.

A student must take the courses equivalent to 30 ECTS in each term.  The students are assessed on the basis of one mid-term and one final exam in addition to occasional quizzes and homework. The students are evaluated by a 4.00 points scale. The passing grade is 2.00 for graduate program program.

Some of our students work in hospitals, counseling centers (e.g., health centers of universities), nursery schools and higher level schools, research institutions, or assume administrative and research positions at certain ministries (e.g., mental health section of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice). They can also work at various advertisement firms, and other public and private organizations to develop assessment techniques for selection, placement and to coordinate human relationships public relations and human resources. Naturally, the level at which they will be employed and the nature of their responsibilities will tend to vary depending on their post-graduate qualifications and the requirements of the related institutions

The applicants with high academic performance in undergraduate programs and with high grades at Postgraduate Education Exam are admitted to the program. The students are also tested for English proficiency. Those not successful must complete a one-year English Proficiency Program at the University.

To achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 in order to successfully complete all courses in the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS)

Full-time four faculty members are running the psychology program. Six research assistants are currently attending master programs.

Candidates should have a high school or equivalent diploma and get an adequate score from University Entrance Examination conducted by National Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM).
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates who successfully graduated from the undergraduate program, may apply to the graduate programs, if they meet the requirements of ALES scores and English proficiency. They are also required to pass a scientific exam.
Graduation Requirements
To achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 60 out of 100 in order to successfully complete all of the courses available in the program (for a total of 240 ECTS).
