About Programme

Our department has started to accept students since 1993-1994 academic year. A total of 16 people work in the department, including 4 professors, 3 associate professor, 2 assistant professors, 3 research assistants, 1 lecturer, 2 laboratory technicians and 1 secretary. The education program continues in classrooms of our department and technical drawing classrooms, which are among the classrooms of the Faculty of Engineering. Laboratory studies have been carried out in our laboratories, which we have moved since the 2003-2004 academic year. In addition, Instrumental Analysis, AAS, Environmental Biotechnology, Environmental Microbiology, Soil Pollution Control, Inorganic Solid Waste, Industrial Wastewater, Environmental Toxicology, Ecology, HPLC, Spectrophotometer, GC, Geographical Information Systems, Air Pollution and Control, Solid Waste, Noise Pollution and There are research laboratories such as control laboratories. In our research laboratories DPT, TÜBİTAK, BAP and Private Sector supported project studies are carried out.



Our laboratories are becoming more and more adequate in terms of tools and equipment, both by the university research fund, the project support institutions, and the contribution of charitable institutions and citizens. In our department, in addition to the projects, master's and doctoral thesis studies are also carried out. Internship applications are carried out in our laboratories under the supervision of our instructors and by utilizing the opportunities of the private sector.



In addition, revolving fund studies are carried out in our laboratories. Our graduates who have completed their 4-year undergraduate education receive the title of Environmental Engineer. The basic courses that will guide our students in the field of environmental engineering are given theoretical and practical and senior students take vocational foreign language lesson. Our graduates are able to work in Environmental, Urbanism and Climate Change Ministrie, Health Ministrie , Agriculture Ministrie, and Public Works Ministrie, İlBank, General Directorate of State Water Affairs, Municipalities, Universities and Private Sectors. The job opportunities are increasing day by day.  



The aim of the departmental studies is to ensure that our students are raised scientifically in the best way, as well as to carry out master's and doctoral thesis studies and project studies in the most efficient way. In addition, we support the cultural and social activities of our students.

History
Mersin University was established on July 3, 1992, became operational on November 10, 1992. The Department of Environmental Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering was opened in the same year, and in the academic year of 1993-1994, graduate studies started with 20 students. Postgraduate education, in the Natural and Applied Sciences was started in the academic year of 1993-1994.
Now, total 10 faculty members, 1 lecturer, and 3 research assistants have been working in the academic staff. Laboratory practices and research studies, the construction of which was completed in 2003, are carried out in laboratories of the department.
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete the four year program are given a bachelor's degree in the field of Environmental Engineering
Admission Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and must get sufficient points from the relevant field of the central exam administered by “Student Selection and Placement Exam of Turkey (OSYM)".
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates who have completed their undergraduate education; They can study in graduate programs provided that they get a valid grade from the ALES exam, have sufficient English language knowledge and pass the science exam.
Graduation Requirements
In order to successfully complete all the courses available in the program (for a total of 240 ECTS), students with 2014 and before must obtain a weighted grade point average of at least 2.0 out of 4.00, and students with 2015 and after must obtain a weighted grade of at least 60 out of 100.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates are qualified to work as Environmental Engineers at private companies, research and development institutions, public administration, or universities.
