About Programme

After the
establishment of Mersin University in 1992, our department accepted its first
undergraduate student in 1994-1995. After the establishment of the Graduate
School of Natural and Applied Sciences, the graduate program was started in
1994. Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded a Bachelor of
Science in Mechanical Engineering. The Department of Mechanical Engineering
continues its educational activities in the building, classrooms and
laboratories within the Faculty of Engineering.



Program vision is
to train engineers who are equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide
qualified service in national and international areas, able to think
analytically, have professional and ethical values, care about public safety
and environmental health, communicate effectively, understand the importance of
lifelong learning, follow scientific and technological developments,
self-confident of establishing their business and sensitive to the problems of
the current age.

History

Qualification Awarded
Graduates who successfully complete the program are awarded a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Admission Requirements
Candidates must have a high school diploma or its equivalent and must have received sufficient points from the relevant field of the central exam administered by ÖSYM.
Higher Grade Transition
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study in the graduate program provided that they get a valid grade in the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES), have sufficient English language knowledge and pass the science exam.
Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate, it is necessary to achieve a weighted grade point average of at least 60 out of 100 to successfully complete all the courses available in the program (total of 240 ECTS).
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Mechanical Engineers work in the public sector, including the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, the General Directorate of Highways, municipalities, universities, port and airport operations. In the private sector, they are employed in manufacturing, energy, petroleum, and engineering companies such as those operating in road and dam construction. They may also establish private offices using their signature authority.
